Naoko Richters

「The Role of the Japanese Young Leaders in the Global Age」

Naoko Richters grew up in Fukuoka, Japan. She gained undergraduate and master degrees in comparative educationat Kyushu University, where she also enrolled in the doctorate course in sociology in 1980. She successfully completedher doctorate course in 1985.From 1981-83, Richters was a fellow researcher of Malaya University, Malaysia, conductingher sociological field work in a traditional village in he State of Terengganu. From 1983 onwards, Richters lived with herhusband in Kenya, Costa Rica and Bolivia.During this period she worked as an interpreter/translator for variousorganizations, and also gave sociology lectures at the State University of San Andres at La Paz, Bolivia.Since 1996, shehas been living with her family in the Netherlands, while she conducts her independent research on the education systemand the society of The Netherlands. The results of her research have been published in various forms: books, articles,lectures and workshops in Japan. She organized various international symposia, inviting Dutch experts of the field ofeducation, in cooperation with civil groups, universities, and the Embassy of the Royal Netherlands in Tokyo.
