Welcome to Kyoto

IEEE VGTC Pacific Visualization Symposium 2008 will be held at Coop-Inn Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan from March 5 - 7, 2008.

Tutorials and Special Evening Talk will be held at Coop-Inn Kyoto from March 4, 2008.

Visualization has become an increasingly active area of research due to its usefulness in a wide range of applications. PacificVis 2008 is the first IEEE VGTC sponsored international visualization symposium in the Asia-Pacific region, with the objective to foster greater exchange between visualization researchers and practitioners, and, in particular, to draw more researchers in the Asia-Pacific region to enter this rapidly growing area of research. The former name of Pacific Vis was APVIS (Asian-Pacific Symposium on Information Visualization). This new venue has an expanded scope to include all areas of visualization, and a sponsorship to allow us to achieve a more wide-spread impact. Papers are solicited that present original and unpublished research and practical applications in all areas of visualization including, but not limited to:

  • GPU rendering and visualization
  • Graph drawing
  • Information visualization
  • Large data visualization
  • Parallel visualization
  • Scientific visualization
  • Usability and visualization systems
  • Visual analytics
  • Visual-based knowledge discovery
  • Visual data mining
  • Visualization algorithms
  • Visualization applications
  • Volume visualization and modeling
